Monday Club hosts presentations once a month at it's luncheon meeting. The selection of presenters is based on several important criteria. Presentations are usually given in a PowerPoint format. Members of Monday Club are encouraged to provide interactive and constructive feedback in a friendly and informal atmosphere. After the meeting, there is time for one-on-one follow up. Members who have an interest in helping the presenting company may do so individually or in groups.
Monday Club is made possible by the gracious sponsorship of three law firms. Please take a minute to visit their web sites and learn more about them.
Luncheon Meeting. Monday Club meets once a month on, yep, you guessed it, a Monday. Normal attendance is about 30-35 people, including presenters. Meetings run from 11:45 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. An informal buffet lunch is served. After introduction of guests and announcements, the presenters take the floor. Meetings are held at the offices of one of Monday Club's sponsors. Location information is on the Contact Us page.
Presentations. Usually there are two presentations, each lasting about 35 minutes, including question and answer time. The idea is to give presenters helpful feedback, so spontaneous dialogue is encourages. Most presenters start with a 15-20 minute PowerPoint presentation that addresses all the issues potential investors expect to cover in a business plan presentation. See the guidelines for presentations on the Founder's Page.
Selection of Presenters. Presenters are selected from a list of candidates. Preference is given to companies that have:
1) A well developed business plan or presentation
2) Topical and educational value
3) A unique idea
4) A desire for assistance and valuable contacts
Many companies that present to Monday Club are just beginning their fundraising process.
Feedback. Members of Monday Club have extensive experience in working with high tech investments. They know what it takes to make a good presentation, and they know what investors are looking for. Their advice can take the following forms:
1) Help with the technology
2) Selecting from strategic options
3) Fundraising strategy
4) Organization and packaging of the presentation
5) Introduction to valuable resources
6) Assistance with specific issues such as
market forecasting, patents, competition.
Follow Up. Follow up is on an individual basis. After the formal meeting, interested members will leave a business card or meet briefly with the presenter. Subsequent activities have involved introduction to other people who can help, formal introduction to the Tech Coast Angels, introduction to venture capital firms, continuing working relationships, and direct, private investment.
Sponsors. Monday Club's sponsors make all of this possible. Meetings are held at their offices, and they provide the buffet luncheons. All three of the sponsors are intimately involved in the high tech community in Southern California. Please take a minute to click on their logos and visit their web sites.
